The first onchain hot potato
Take the bomb. Hold it when it blows. Win the pot. Everything below runs in a smart contract on Solana: every take, every fuse roll and every payout is a transaction anyone can check.
Overview
Boom is a game of hot potato played with SOL. One bomb, one holder at a time. Every take puts SOL into the pot and makes you the holder. The bomb can blow at any moment, and the longer nobody takes it, the more likely it is to blow. Whoever holds it when it blows wins 75% of the pot.
The other 25% starts the next round, so every pot begins bigger than zero. Once in every 25 rounds on average, a Grand Slam adds an extra jackpot to the pot.
You only need a Solana wallet and SOL. You don't need $BOOM to play.
Quick start
- Get a Solana wallet with some SOLPhantom, Solflare or Backpack. One take starts at 0.05 SOL; keep a little extra for network fees.
- Open boom.tech and connect your walletConnecting only shares your address. Nothing is signed until you take.
- Take the bombPress take and approve in your wallet. You are now the holder and the timer resets.
- Optional: turn on one-tap playApprove once and every next take is a single tap, with no wallet popups. See One-tap play.
- If it blows on you, claimYour winnings appear in the app. Press claim and they go to your wallet.
How a round works
- The round startsThe pot starts with the seed carried over from the last round (and the Grand Slam jackpot, if this is a Grand Slam round).
- Someone takes the bombThey pay the take price. 94% goes into the pot. They become the holder.
- The timer resetsEvery take restarts the 2 minute fuse from zero.
- The fuse burnsEvery moment the bomb may blow. The chance grows the longer nobody takes it, and at 2 minutes it blows for sure.
- Anyone can take it from the holderEach take costs 2% more than the last one. The new taker becomes the holder.
- It blowsThe holder at that moment wins 75% of the pot. 25% becomes the seed of the next round.
- The next round starts automaticallyA new bomb, a pot that already has SOL in it.
Take price
The first take of every round costs 0.05 SOL. Each next take costs 2% more than the one before. When the pot gets big, the price is never less than 2% of the pot, whichever is higher.
| Take in the round | Price |
|---|---|
| 1st | 0.0500 SOL |
| 2nd | 0.0510 SOL |
| 5th | 0.0541 SOL |
| 10th | 0.0598 SOL |
| 25th | 0.0804 SOL |
| 50th | 0.1319 SOL |
| 100th | 0.3551 SOL |
Where every take goes
You never pay more than you saw. Your take carries the price shown when you pressed it. If someone takes a moment before you and the price goes up, your take is rejected and you pay nothing (only the tiny network fee).
The fuse
After every take, the fuse starts again from zero. Each second, the bomb has a chance to blow, and that chance rises in four stages:
| Time since last take | Chance to blow, per second | Still alive if nobody takes |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 40 s | 0.025% | 99% at 40 s |
| 40 to 80 s | 0.25% | 90% at 80 s |
| 80 to 105 s | 1% | 70% at 105 s |
| 105 to 120 s | 4% | 38% reach 120 s |
| 120 s | blows for sure | 0% |
There is no "last second" to snipe. The bomb can blow at any moment, so a bot waiting for the final second is just as exposed as everyone else.
When is a take final?
Your take lands instantly, but the fuse is checked on chain a few seconds later for every moment since the last check. If that check finds the bomb had already blown before your take landed, your take is cancelled and refunded in full. You can't lose SOL taking a bomb that was already gone.
Payouts and claims
- Winner: the holder when the bomb blows gets 75% of the pot.
- Next round: the other 25% seeds the next pot.
- Pot cap: a pot holds at most 50 SOL. Anything above it rolls into the next round's seed.
Winnings and refunds stay in the contract until you claim them. Open boom.tech with the same wallet and press claim. There is no deadline: what you are owed stays yours.
Grand Slam
Every round has a 1 in 25 (4%) chance to be a Grand Slam round. It is random, not a schedule: some stretches go longer without one, some get two close together. When a Grand Slam round starts, the full Grand Slam jackpot is added to its pot, and the whole site turns red so everyone knows.
- Funded by $BOOM trading: our share of every $BOOM trading fee is collected every 30 seconds and added to the jackpot. More trading, bigger Grand Slam.
- Same rules as any round: the holder when it blows wins 75% of the pot, jackpot included.
- Picked by the same randomness as the fuse: whether the next round is a Grand Slam is decided on chain when the previous bomb blows.
The current jackpot is shown live in the banner at the top of boom.tech.
Safety net
Playing alone is never a loss. If you were the only player in a round and it blows on you, you get back everything you paid plus a 0.011 SOL bonus.
The safety net is paid from a reserve the team funds, up to 0.1 SOL per day across all players. Once that day's limit is used, solo rounds pay the normal 75% until the next day (UTC).
One-tap play
Wallet popups are slow when the fuse is burning. One-tap play lets you take with a single tap.
- Enable one-tap playApprove one transaction in your wallet. It moves the SOL you choose into your game balance and approves a small key that lives in this browser for 7 days.
- Tap to takeThat key signs your takes from your game balance. No popups.
- Withdraw anytimeOne tap sends your whole game balance back to your wallet.
The browser key can only do three things: take the bomb, claim your winnings, and send your game balance back to your own wallet. The contract rejects anything else. It can never send your SOL to another address.
The key keeps about 0.01 SOL for network fees. If you clear your browser data, the key is gone but your game balance is not: connect your wallet and withdraw it.
$BOOM token
$BOOM is the game's token. You don't need it to play; the game feeds it.
Buyback and burn
5% of every take goes to the buyback wallet. Every 10 minutes it buys $BOOM on the market and burns it in the same transaction. Supply only goes down.
Trading fees fill the Grand Slam
$BOOM trades with a 1% fee. 80% of it goes to the Grand Slam jackpot and 20% to Meteora, the exchange it trades on.

Fairness
Nobody can choose when the bomb blows: not players, not bots, not us.
- Committed in advance: before the game started, the contract locked in a fingerprint of a long secret random chain. Each fuse check must reveal the next link, and the contract verifies it matches. A different value is rejected.
- Mixed with Solana itself: each link is combined with the Solana block hash of the moment being checked. Nobody knows those hashes in advance.
- Checked for every moment: the result for each moment is fixed once that moment has passed. A check can only reveal it, never change it.
- Public: every check is a transaction on Solana. Anyone can follow it on Solscan.
Contract and security
What the contract guarantees
- All game SOL sits in one vault controlled by the contract. It leaves only by the rules: winnings and refunds to players, the 5% to the buyback wallet and the 1% to the team wallet.
- Nobody can take SOL out of a pot or out of what a player is owed. Not the team, not anyone.
- Claims and withdrawals always work, even if new takes are paused.
- One-tap keys can only send a player's SOL back to that player.

| Program | 2RQFnDWLuZUiAcxCK9khE8hYN5Aibfynqd4bBfjxmZtL |
| Upgrade authority | held by the team · renounce planned |
What the team key can do today
- Pause new takes (claims and withdrawals keep working).
- Change game settings for future takes: prices, splits, the fuse.
- Set the Grand Slam odds, and move Grand Slam jackpot SOL before it drops into a round.
- Adjust or refill the safety net reserve.
None of these can touch SOL in a pot or SOL owed to a player.
We keep these keys for the first days after launch so we can fix anything urgent. Once the game has run stable, we lock the settings and renounce the upgrade key: after that nobody, including us, can ever change the contract or the rules. This page and @Boom_Dot_Tech will show the renounce transaction.

FAQ
Do I need $BOOM to play?
No. You play with SOL. $BOOM is bought back and burned with 5% of every take.
What if two people take at the same moment?
The first one to land wins the bomb. The other take is rejected because the price went up, and that player pays nothing except the network fee.
What if I take right after it blew?
If the bomb had already blown before your take landed, you get a full refund. Claim it in the app.
Can I lose money?
Yes. If someone takes the bomb after you and it blows on them, you don't get your take back. That is the game. Only play with SOL you can afford to lose.
Where are my winnings?
In the contract, waiting for you. Open boom.tech with the same wallet and press claim. They never expire.
Which wallets work?
Any Solana wallet that connects to websites: Phantom, Solflare, Backpack and others.
Is the game audited?
The contract has an automated test suite covering every rule on this page, and every rule is enforced on chain. It has no third-party audit yet. Play with that in mind.
